best nikon slr for stopping action with flash?

Which is the best to purchase if your number one concern is to stop action with flash? I would assume its the one with the highest sync speed capabilities but often this is not published or hard to find. Also, sometimes the published max sync speed is not the actual max capabilities of the camera.

Anyways, what is the best Nikon slr camera to purchase IF stopping action WITH FLASH is the number one objective?

thanks so much!!!

It is the flash that stops the action, not the lens.

If you are using the Nikon SB-600 flash, it is automatic 24 to 85mm zoom; 14mm with built-in wide flash adapter, 0.6m to 20m (2 to 65.6 ft.)

Without flash, the the lens has to be the fastest you can afford. This is why you see the pros at indoor sports venues using those $6000 400mm f/2.8 lenses instead of a $400 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6

The more expensive models sync at 250th of a second and the less expensive ones at 200th. And sync speed does matter, because if the shutter is open a longer time, you might get two exposures, one from the flash initially and the second from the ambient, or available light. If you use rear curtain sync, this second exposure can actually work for you, since a perfectly frozen image can look rather static. Yes, some have high speed sync capabilities, but this is primarily for using a wide open aperture outside during the day and wanting a bit of fill flash- a slower shutter speed/large aperture combination would cause overexposure. The photographer might want the larger aperture to throw the background out of focus and the flash to fill in shadows on the subject’s face.

Today, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iPad and tested to see if it can survive a 40 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
